Ways of the Wood is the creation of Antony Humphries. Antony has been working in construction since the late 90s and found his passion in the carpentry and joinery branch of the industry. He quicklymoved through the ranks in the carpentry companies he worked for and, needing a new challenge, he set his sights on running his own business and here it is. Now settled in Ashtead, Surrey, with his wife and 3 children, he is aiming to become the carpenter of choice in the local area.
I have worked in wood and its various derivatives for almost 30 years now. Fifteen of those were spent in and around London, my home at the time, furnishing a wide variety of properties from humbleflats in the suburbs to grand houses around Chelsea and Kensington. For the last fifteen years I have been living and working in Oxford and enjoying the slightly less frenetic pace and easier parking I have found here.

Carpentry is a career that I always knew that I wanted to pursue, from a very early age as I always enjoyed making things out of wood. So when I finished school I went to college and gained City &Guilds Foundation Construction Award Carpentry and City & Guilds Intermediate Construction Award - Site Carpentry. I do believe that if you are to make something you should make sure you make it with the best quality wood and to think carefully about what you want and then it will last you a life time.
